Delete chat messages and chats

Delete a message you sent within 24 hours, or remove a chat from your own list. What the other participants see and which chats are kept as a record.

Written by the Maxmove team

In short: You can delete your own messages for everyone within 24 hours of sending them. Deleting a chat only removes it from your own list; the other participants keep it.

Delete a message

  • In the apps: press and hold your message, then tap Delete.
  • In the dashboard: hover over your message and click the bin icon.

After you confirm, everyone in the chat sees Message deleted instead of the text. Photos and files in the message are deleted too.

You can delete only messages you sent yourself, and only within 24 hours. In the fleet's control center, every dispatcher can delete messages sent as Dispo; Maxmove records who deleted them.

A push notification, email or WhatsApp message that already went out for the message can't be recalled.

Delete a chat

  • In the apps: swipe the chat to the left in your inbox and tap Delete.
  • In the dashboard: open the chat and click the bin icon in its header.

The chat disappears from your inbox and stops counting as unread. The other participants keep it, and nothing is deleted. When a new message arrives, the chat appears again with the full history.

Chats that are kept as a record

Messages can't be deleted when a chat is evidence:

  • the chat of an order with a reported issue, such as damage or an accident
  • the support chat for a reported issue
  • chats that Maxmove holds for a legal reason

You can still delete these chats from your own list.
