Driving in Cologne. Planning beyond the city.
For a pickup in Ehrenfeld or Nippes and a delivery in Deutz, account for the Rhine crossing as well as loading access. Check the full route, travel to pickup and any empty return journey before accepting.
Compare routes towards Bonn, Leverkusen or Düsseldorf in the calculator when those cities are selectable. For onward work, only count a follow-up job once it is confirmed.
You can use Maxmove alongside your own routes when time windows and job conditions allow.
What you need for each vehicle class.
Requirements depend on your vehicle, its permitted total weight including any trailer, and whether the journey crosses a border.
| Vehicle | Permit | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Car or van up to 3.5 t, including any trailer | Business registration and the required driver and vehicle documents | For domestic journeys, check your driving licence, insurance and payload. Cross-border commercial haulage above 2.5 t requires a Community licence. |
| Vehicle combination above 3.5 t | Valid authorisation for commercial road haulage | Check the applicable Community licence and driver qualification requirements with your licensing authority. |
Not legal advice. Your chamber of commerce or the BALM has the final say.
