How to transport a mattress correctly
Use a protective cover
A mattress bag or foil protects against dirt, moisture, and grip marks – especially on the way through the staircase and on the load floor.
Do not fold
Spring mattresses must never be folded – the springs bend permanently. Cold foam and latex tolerate brief bending but should also travel flat or on their side.
Secure flat or on its side
Flat on a clean load floor or upright against the wall, strapped. Never stack anything heavy on top – pressure marks stay.
Which vehicle do you need?
A 90×200 mattress fits upright in the compact van; 160 and 180 double mattresses travel comfortably in the 2.7 m class – together with slatted frame and bed. All dimensions and payloads in the van guide →
